System for education process management in institutions of higher education

Automated system for education process management is intended to automate the activity of educational administrations, dean’s offices, departments and institutions of higher education (IHE) leaders. The system consists of a centralized database and two automated systems – “Professors’ workload calculation” and “Studies scheduling”.

The automated system has been elaborated taking into account the peculiarities of studies organization in view of the Bologna process.

The centralized database contains primary information for an educational organization:

  • Lists of faculties, departments and specialities of an educational organization;
  • Information about quantity of students in an educational group and the list of groups;
  • Information about study disciplines;
  • Educational plans and schedule;
  • List of professors;
  • List of students;
  • Information about optional disciplines (special courses) that a student might have chosen;
  • List of lecture halls and their roominess;

 

Professors’ workload calculation subsystem ensures:

 

  • Forming IHE studies database for an academic year;
  • Professors’ workload calculation according to their departments and faculties for semesters of an academic year;
  • Forming an individual workload for professors of a department.

Studies scheduling subsystem ensures:

  • Studies scheduling for a period of studies (semester, trimester, specific week);
  • Studies scheduling for different subjects of a schedule (educational groups, single student or professor, lecture halls);
  • While making an automated schedule it is used a methodology that’s been elaborated according to a general theory of studies scheduling;
  • While making a schedule it is taken in consideration professors’ wills, schedule structure requests for students, lecture halls roominess.

The system was launched in Kyiv National Economy University and Kyiv National Trade and Economy University.
